What is the difference between Blue Yeti and Yeti Nano?

Introduction

The Blue Yeti was one of the best microphones for professional audio recording. It was used widely by vocalists and steamers. Later, Blue introduced the Blue Yeti nano microphone, a new version of the Yeti microphone.

But what is the difference between the two microphones? They may have different sizes and weights, but the company must have altered something inside them to achieve such a result. So let us dive deep into the two microphones and find their differences.

Difference Between Blue Yeti and Yeti Nano

The two microphones may deliver the same audio performance, but some differences exist. We have discussed them below.

Size

The Blue Yeti weighs almost the same as any other microphone in this category. It is also cumbersome. It weighs nearly 3.4lbs. But this size and weight are at the standard level.

On the other hand, this microphone is lighter and smaller. It only weighs 1.39 lbs, and it is very compact. This lightweight and compact design makes the microphone portable and idle for home recording.

Build quality

In case of build quality, the Yeti microphone beats the Yeti nano, hands down. The Yeti has a more sophisticated body design with more attention to detail. Plus, it feels more durable.

The Yeti Nano, however, has a somewhat less sophisticated body design. But we cannot blame Blue for this. The size and weight of the Blue Yeti nano microphone play a role in this downfall of build quality.

Polar patterns

The Yeti has four polar patterns, whereas the Yeti nano has only two. The contrasting patterns in the Blue Yeti microphone are Cardioid, Bi-directional, Omnidirectional, and Stereo. The Yeti nano microphone has only Cardioid and Omni-directional.

This is because the Blue Yeti nano microphone has only two microphone capsules because of its compact design. The Blue Yeti microphone has three microphone capsules. Thus the Yeti can create four polar patterns, and the Nano can produce only two.

Sound quality

The Blue Yeti nano microphone defeats the Yeti microphone in sound quality. That is because the Blue Yeti records at 16-bit. But, the Blue Yeti nano microphone records at 24-bit. Thus one microphone has a greater dynamic range and records audio with more detail.

Warranty

The Blue Yeti microphone has a two-year warranty. But the Yeti nano microphone has only a one-year warranty.

Price

The difference in price between there are only $30. The Blue Yeti microphone costs $130, whereas the Blue Yeti nano microphone costs only $100.

So, of course, the Blue Yeti nano microphone seems a better option. But for that extra $30, you can get a more professional blue Yeti microphone.
