The unboxing experience is quite simple, nothing flashy. The package contains a USB-C cable, a 3.5mm cable, a plug adapter, 3 pair of Triple Comfort ear tips (S/M/L) and 4 pair of Hybrid ear tips (XS/S/M/L), and a hard carrying case inside which you will find the headphones. The hard-carrying case is premium and has a nice touch as well. It can protect your headphones from any external damage.

As mentioned earlier, this headphone follows a neckband design. The neckband is more chunky than other neckband headphones but it is made out of silicon, which means you can fold it. The neckband and the overall feel comfortable. It does not feel heavy on the neck by any means. It’s made out of black plastic and soft material. Sony used a copper accent like the Sony WH-1000XM3 which looks very neat and gives the headphone an overall premium look. There’s a 3.5mm input in case you run out of battery juice and want to go wired.

The earpiece is designed in a way that can fit all sorts of ear shapes with ease. If you pair it up with the perfect ear tips, it will guarantee the best fitting. The box comes with 6 different options to choose from.

You can find the remote connection with the cable of the left earpiece. The remote is made out of plastic and it feels somewhat cheap. The clicks could’ve been clicker. The remote has four buttons. There’s a dedicated button for the ANC function and the rest three buttons function as volume/down, skipping tracks, play/pause, and receive/reject calls. Turning off ANC might increase its battery life to 2/3 hours. It also supports quick charging with the USB-C port. Charging it for 10 minutes gives it a battery life of 80 minutes playtime.

It always comes down to sound quality. It has just the right amount of bass which everyone will appreciate. The bass is neither overpowering or shabby. The bass is deep detailed and crisp which is very enjoyable.

The mid-end is very clear and distinct. The vocals sound very smooth and decent. It won’t overlap with other frequencies. Stringed instruments can be pretty enjoyable.

The high end is also well detailed and crisp. You can enjoy higher notes while other frequencies still being distinct. The higher-end does not sound harsh or lack details. It sounds balanced as the other frequencies.

The sound staging is excellent, all thanks to the balanced armature and dynamic drivers working together. It will give you a feeling of enjoying live music where you can separate each instrument details coming from separate directions.

Overall, the Sony WI-1000XM2 sounds amazing. The clarity is exceptional. And enabling the ANC will enhance the listening experience even more.

Noise cancellation was an over-ear headphone feature. Considering it as an in-ear headphones, the Noise Cancellation (ANC) feature works exceptionally well.
